The Theme Song from Donut Day or; Don’t You Know It’s Donut Day

Obviously, one of the biggest days of the year for do(ugh)nuts, just behind the donut harvest festival, is #DonutDay.

When Veronica Reyes approached me about collaborating on a choreographed dance number to an original song she had written, I was hesitant. Short of a couple movement classes, I had never taken a dance class and the only choreography I’ve ever done was as Joseph in Dreamcoat in Grade 7 (7th grade for our American friends).

What I did know is that I love donuts and I love Veronica and I wanted to know if people knew it was donut day. When she sang the song to me, I was speechless. It identified the day (Donut Day), it engaged the listener by asking if they knew it was Donut Day, and, in case the listener was distracted at first, it asked again and then cheered. Brilliant!

I had this clap shuffle I’d been toying with in the studio and I knew I could do a little eyebrow acting.

Needless to say, I think we accomplished what we set out to do. We hope you enjoy “Donut Day” as much as we enjoyed creating it. https://instagram.com/p/3j3Xp9Ksc3/
